Solution: Reset the printer

- Before resetting, the printer must be in Service Mode.
STEP 1 - Enter Service Mode
Service mode operation procedures:
- Turn off a printer
- Press and hold the STOP button
- Press and hold the ON button (do not release both buttons)
- Release the STOP button (do not release the ON button)
- While holding the ON button, press the STOP button 5 times **, and then release both the ON and STOP buttons together.
About point 5):
While holding the ON button, press and releasethe STOP button 4 times, then press and hold the STOP buttons, then release both the ON and STOP buttons together.
Note:**: To disable scanner error detection and start the instrument in service mode, hold down the ON button and press the STOP button 6 times. So you can use service mode without a scanner. When the power LED is green, the printer is ready to go into service mode. If the power light is not green, the printer cannot enter service mode. Turn off the printer and repeat the service mode procedure.
STEP 2 - Reset error Ink Absorber Full
To reset error Ink Absorber Full use Canon Service Tool v.3400
- Download Canon Service Tool v.3400
- Extract the file and open the service tool. If the service tool does not open, disconnect the USB cable and then open the service tool.
- Reconnect the USB cable after opening the Service Tool.
- Load A4 or Letter size paper
- For maintenance help, press the EEPROM button (1) to print information before resetting. Clear the ink counter, select All (2), then press Install (3). After the ink absorber counter is reset, the counter value is automatically printed. Clear Ink Counters - Select all means: Clear all four ink absorber counters (primary_black, primary_color, roller_missing, roller_original). Select Destination, Region (4): ASA, AUS, BRA, CHN, CND, EMB, EUR, JPN, KOR, LTN, TWN, USA, then press SET (5). After resetting, press the EEPROM button (1) to print the information again.
- Compare EEPROM information before and after reset. If everything is fine, close the service tool.
- Turn off the printer (wait 10 seconds)
- Turn on the printer and the printer is ready to use.
